Yes, some states do not give driver's licenses if your H1B is less than 1 year. P.A. is one of those states. This point was our main talking point to get the 3 year Vs. 1 year H1B extensions.
During the Fox news channel interview of Aman Kapoor, I heard the issue of Drivers licence renewal mentioned. I have heard that people who have one year or less than one year on their work permit have difficulty getting renewals.
Is that true and if yes, is it in every state?
Has IV mentioned this issue with the senetors etc as part of the backlog and retrogression issue?
Pls. post more details if you know. It would help us to be more aware and educated about this issue so that we can address this with more details when we contact other people and our employers.

In Kansas there is a strangely different rule. They give in-state but show the balance amount between in-state and out of state as scholarship given to the individual in a separate 1098 T tax form. This increases your taxes slightly and the individual cannot claim education credits in the tax return.

I never demanded permanent residence in the US as my right. But I have the right to have my LCA adjudicated in a reasonable time (months, not years) by the US administration. Months, not years! I am here legally, I work hard for this country, pay honestly my taxes and I am entitled to get a quick reply to my application. If it is rejected, OK! Fair enough, I will look for other opportunities.
A company invites you for an interview. You meet them over the course of a few hours and expect an offer. But they don't get back to you. So do you keep waiting forever for that phone call? Or do you assume that you didn't get the job and move on?
We HAVE a choice of going back to our home country: if some of us (me included) choose not to take it, it's because we think the GC will more than compensate for the opportunities we are losing currently.
Don't get me wrong: the US government should fix the broken immigration system. American citizens would never tolerate the tardy service we suffer at the hands of the DOL/USCIS. But in not "voting with our feet" we are part of the problem. Just imagine, if a substantial fraction of H1 visa holders left the US tomorrow (and quoted the backlogs as the cause) wouldn't that get more attention than all our efforts so far?

Hello,
I just received an RFE for my dang travel document as well. They want copies of all my passports, with arrival/departure stamps and more photographs. I travel abroad every other year so this may have kicked off the RFE. I'm sure all the lawyers are loving the RFE's. I cannot believe we have to go through so many hurdles for just a I-131 travel document. It looks like they are going to make us work for our green cards.

I am still waiting. I created a SR and reply was to wait for biometrics. I am going to India in dec. Any recommendation on what to do if I still have not got the card?
Take Infopass appt, take your approval notice and mention that you need to travel and your spouse has a job offer.
Which service center has processed your case?
Mine was from CSC to NSC and I am waiting too

I was not implying that legal immigrants would abuse the information if they received someone else's documents, but with that many rejected applications in the mail and lying in mailboxes, there is always a possibility of theft by others. Also documents like the medical exams are expensive to replace.

I just received an email from USCIS that my wife's EAD has been approved.
RD 07/02, FP 09/04, PD 05/06
Is approved the same as "card ordered"? Do you see a different LUD than the card ordered LUD?

I just sent out an email blast to all my H1b and GC Holder friends. See the text as below. Please feel free to re-use/edit as appropriate and send emails to all your friends (GC Holder or H1B's and F1's)....
Don't worry there is no copyright for this text :)
---------------------------------------------------------------
Friends:
<<If you already have your Green Card, please forward this email to those who are stuck in the GC retrogression mess. >>>
However, if you are like me and are stuck in USCIS retrogression, then you surely want to become a member of "Immigration Voice (IV)".
IV has a team who is lobbying for you and me. The Membership is free. Currently, we only have 5851 members in IV, while almost 300,000 people are stuck in the retrogression. IV needs to show a large member base to communicate their voice to the Senators and Congressmen. If you don't stand up for it, who will??
So if you want something to happen within the US legislation/Immigration policies in the near future, please join hands with IV.
Remember, there is Power in Unity!!!
So please become a member at http://www.immigrationvoice.org/ Time is flying, please do not delay!
Thanks
great effort Final GC. Thanks

For the pessimists among us who doubt the utility of what we can achieve, I have compiled the following FAQs:
1/ Isnt it very unlikely that a senator or congressman will listen to us or care about our agenda?
It is extremely likely -almost guaranteed- that US lawmakers will listen to us and incorporate our amendments, as long as they are reasonable, fair and not inimical to US interests (which our suggestions most certainly fit with). The system here works very differently than what several of us may be used to in our own home countries, where it might be near impossible to get things through to lawmakers without connections. Several of those here who witnessed the S1932 campaign in December were surprised at how easily accessible the lawmakers and their staff were, and how receptive they were to our requests and suggestions. We have to make sure that we present our arguments intelligently, and show them how closely they are linked to long term US interests.

Oh Wow.... Learn how to use the equipment. Stop thinking just because you bought it you will be a better photographer. If you look through your images and if one, just one, photo is in focus, the problem is you. PERIOD A camera can't focus on air - so in order for the "50% of the time" images that are in focus to be in focus - the camera must be doing its job. Learn the focus lock and how to set it. Or go to manual focus.
I have been a photographer 44 years. I have exhibited around the world; my images have been used in well over a thousand publications. I still use my 8"x10" mahogany and brass camera. I've used Nikons since 1968, have owned about 50 of them. And you're telling me to learn how to use my equipment? Jumping to a bit of a conclusion, aren't you?
